On May 3, 2023, Georg Löwe successfully defended his PhD thesis on metamorphic core complexes in the Dinarides. His thesis is entitled "Interplay between tectonics and
magmatism in the internal Dinarides". Georg spent a lot of time in the field taking samples and doing detailed mapping. This was followed by intensive analyses, mainly dating of the Motajica and Cer core complexes. The results of his work support the idea of a rapid exhumation of middle crustal rocks, brought to the surface in the form of metamorphic core complexes as a result of the opening of the Pannonian Basin.

Congratulations, Georg!
